| A natural extension of these activities led to the creation of the United Energy futures division which began as a floor brokerage operation on the NYMEX (New York Mercantile Exchange). Through the NYMEX we were able to employ energy futures and options to meet our clients hedging and trading needs. The United Energy NYMEX operation was then expanded to include a full service Introducing Broker operation that offers clearing and consulting services
Through our successful coverage of petroleum products we saw the need for brokerage services in the physical crude oil market. After starting up a physical crude oil brokerage service the need was quickly recognized for hedging and trading tools beyond the basic physical and futures transactions. To enable a truly comprehensive energy price risk management we became the market leader in providing OTC (over-the-counter) derivatives in the form of swaps and options on all energy commodities.
Our focus on energy has led us to expand into brokerage services in fields such as natural gas, pollution emissions, and coal. Starting from a small base of physical products United has become a comprehensive energy brokerage firm constantly striving to enhance and expand our depth and range of services.
